Bio

Michael Biechlin earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting and drawing, and a Master of Fine Arts degree in ceramics from The University of Texas at Austin. He worked as a professional potter for a number of years prior to joining his brother Brink, a landscape architect, at Groundsmasters LanDesign (GMLD) in 1995. In the early years at GMLD, Michael managed the construction/installation arm of the company, and over time developed his own design language. Brink and Michael worked together until Brink passed away in 2013, when Michael assumed full ownership of the business. Michael's experience as an artist, his education in art history and architecture, and his study of historical and contemporary gardens, informs his work as a landscape designer.
